Rheumatology is a medical subspecialty that diagnoses and treats disorders of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue diseases. Some of the conditions a rheumatologist treats are rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, gout, psoriatic arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory diseases. Dr. Cassetta performs very thorough evaluations of his patients in order to accurately diagnose these complex conditions. Dr. Cassetta takes a practical approach to treating these chronic diseases by combining education, lifestyle changes, standard-of-care rheumatologic practices and state-of-the-art new treatment options in a judicious manner. He is dedicated to educating patients about their conditions, and believes this aspect of treatment is key to the successful management of rheumatologic diseases. He also enjoys the relationships with patients that are fostered by these discussions. As a consultant, Dr. Cassetta works closely with the patient's other physicians to provide optimal care.
Dr. Cassetta has been providing excellent Rheumatologic care to our patients since joining Fairfield County Medical Group in 2004. He has been recognized by his peers annually since 2009 in the Connecticut Magazine “Top Docs” issue as one of the most trusted rheumatologists in Connecticut. He has also been honored to serve as the Division Chief of Rheumatology at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, CT.
Dr. Cassetta is an avid scuba diver and you can often see him swimming in the Norwalk Aquarium’s shark tank. He volunteers and serves as an officer for the Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue Team. He also enjoys spending time with his family and coaching his daughter's track team.
